The Office – A very PB & J Wedding.

October 9, 2009

I loved it. At one point I actually punched myself in the leg so hard that it hurt. I loved the way all of the supporting characters were written, I loved Kevin’s wig, I loved that Pam spent the night before her wedding tending to Andy’s torn scrotum.

At the beginning I was quite sceptical. I thought that maybe they would go over the top with Michael’s character like they did at Phyllis’ wedding. And they did. I wasn’t massively bothered by it though because he was only a supporting character in this episode really, giving Jim and Pam their chance to shine. I did however like that he ended up with Pam’s mom at the end of the night! I can’t wait to see the consequences of that.

The wedding itself was amazing. From Jim cutting half of his tie off to the happy couple running away and getting married on a boat. It was just perfect. The dancing was what made me punch myself in the leg with some force, it was too funny…

Other stories I enjoyed:

Dwight – I love seeing Dwight get with a woman and just have no interest in seeing her again (see: season 4 episode 11: Night Out). I think Rainn Wilson just knows how to bring it in important episodes. Also, the way he tricked Michael about the reservation, classic Dwight.

Kevin – The shoe storyline was a bit, well, naff if you ask me. Seemed like something you would find in an 80’s comedy. Although I was a fan of his hairpiece and the fact that he put his feet into the ice machine after the wedding.

Oscar – It was funny to watch Oscar be completely disgusted when Pam’s sister thought he was in a relationship with Kevin. Especially when Kevin was stroking his hair.

Angela/ Creed/Stanley/Phyllis – We didn’t really see too much of them throughout the episode, although they were good in the bit’s they were in.

Kelly/Ryan – I would’ve thought they’d have been doing more considering Mindy Kaling (Kelly) co-wrote the episode. Oh well, stellar effort anyway.

Erin – Again didn’t do much but was spot on when she did.

Overall one of the best episodes of the show EVER. It’s definitely up there with ‘Beach Day’, ‘Diversity Day’ and other classics. The Mixture of laughter and real emotion showed why this show has been around for nearly 100 episodes with hopefully still another 100 to go.
