NBC Bringing ‘Chuck’ Back Early?

October 9, 2009 Leave a comment

via EW Ausiello Files

Apparently execs over at NBC are in discussions on whether to bring back fan favorite ‘Chuck’.

How early you ask? Possibly as early as this month! I’m guessing it’s due to the cancelation of Southland and the early ratings woes of veteran and returning series.

This also means that the chances of a full 22 episode pickup are even more likely…. i’m so excited!

It’s official! A rep for Lauren Graham’s has announced that she has signed on to NBC’s ‘Parenthood’.

According to EW’s Michael Ausiello, the ‘Gilmore Girls’ alum has signed on to play the role of mom Sarah, the part of formerly cast Maura Tierney (ER).

In case you don’t know the back story, the part of Sarah was played by Tierney but she had to pull out following the discovery of cancer in early August. Helen Hunt was also in the running for the role at one point or another.

Parenthood is tapped to begin airing Midseason on NBC.

The Office – A very PB & J Wedding.

I don’t know about you but this was the only episode of a TV show that I’ve actually looked forward to in a while. I don’t think I had been that excited since the Friends finale in 2004.

Former Letterman writer and funnyman Chris Elliott (Groundhog Day, There’s Something About Mary) is set to join the cast for the Thanksgiving (or slapsgiving) episode slated to air on Nov. 23

Elliott will be playing Lily’s (Alyson Hannigan’s) father, a down and out small time crook, who comes face to face with his daughter at the family’s Thanksgiving celebration at Lily’s grandparents’.

Let the good times roll….

Thursday TV Ratings: Office and Parks Up, Everything Else Down

October 9, 2009 Leave a comment

Survivor: Samoa took the 8pm hour though it was down a few ticks from last week.   FlashForward took a big dip from last week’s 3.7 adults 18-49 rating down  all the way to a 3.0 this week.  I DVRd it and watched baseball. FlashForward did win the hour with adults 18-34 though.  Bones was actually up a couple of ticks vs. last week.

Community took a pounding in its move from 9:30p to 8:00p, dropping all the way from a 2.9 to a 2.0.  However, that’s an improvement versus last week’s 1.8 for  SNL: Weekend Update. In fact, the NBC lineup improved in each time slot versus last week.

The hour long wedding episode of The Office pulled a 4.5 rating, up from last week’s 3.7.   Grey’s Anatomy dropped from a 6.0 rating with adults 18-49 last week to a  5.3 this week.   CSI also took a hit dropping from last week’s 4.0 to a 3.4 adults 18-49 rating last night.

Private Practice was down big from last week’s premiere, and The Mentalist dropped a few ticks at 10pm as well.  The Jay Leno Show improved a tick, but it had a much better lead-in with the hour long Office than last week.   Updates and total viewers will be added soon…

Retentionistas will be all over Fringe dropping to a 2.1, but like Flashforward, for me,  Fringe went by the wayside for baseball last night.  Even with this, FOX was the only network up year over year for the same night with adults 18-49.  It was only up 9% versus last year, but all of the other networks were down.  So far this year, FOX is up 39% versus last year on Thursdays with adults 18-49.

On the CW The Vampire Diaries is staying strong, and at least with 18-49s was unchanged week over week.  Supernatural was down a tick with 18-49s, which is too bad since it was fun to see Paris Hilton mock herself for spray tans and small dogs, and then get to see her head chopped off with an iron axe!
